Palio Diet

paleo diet heading

The Paleo Diet is a low carb eating program that will have you enjoying wholesome, natural foods from the food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on. These foods include fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-range), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed).

The Paleo Diet is believed to be the healthiest way we can eat as the only nutritional approach that works with our genetics.

Dos & Donts

Why the Paleo Diet?

Modern life today means that many people have become busier and busier. It is quick and easy and saves time to choose packaged, pre-prepared and fast food. But do we consider what is contained in these foods; the additives, colours, refined foods, trans fats and sugars?  We now also eat more whole grains, legumes and dairy.

Modern life has also seen a rise in serious disease. We see more and more people succumb to cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, migraines, asthma, sleep disorders and much more. We have also seen a rise in obesity which also contributes to health issues.

Paleo BenefitsHow to Get Started

For optimum results it is best to eliminate any processed foods and minimise snacking to once per day (best time to snack is between lunch and dinner) and eat nothing after dinner for a two-week period.  This will break your normal day-to-day eating habits and allow a fresh start with a fresh perspective.

Why Are Coffee Enemas Important?

Why Use a Coffee Enema?

Coffee enemas are known to be extremely beneficial for cleansing the body of harmful waste matter, particularly when used in conjunction with a cleansing program that is high in nutritional support.  The coffee enema also assists in elimination by bowel cleansing.

Coffee Enemas are also  popular for helping to relieve the symptoms of serious illness.  Max Gerson, MD, whopioneered the Gerson Therapy, documented excellent results for cancer and other diseases in “Healing the Gerson Way” and other writings. His Gerson Therapy combines coffee enemas with a special diet, juices and supplements.  The enemas are an integral part of the process.

If you suffer from constipation an enema can be useful, although it should never replace a bowel movement.

Enema vs Colonic Irrigation?
A coffee enema is aimed at cleansing and improving the  liver function, whereas colonic irrigation cleanses the bowel and colon.

How Do They Work?
Dr.Gerson explains that the power of the enema is in its ability to cleanse via the liver/bile.  Enemas dilate the bile ducts allowing the liver to release accumulations of waste matter. Harmful waste from faecal matter and free radicals diffuse into the blood and cells of the body.  If left, they accumulate and this may lead to disease and premature aging.

The caffeine from the coffee is absorbed into the haemorrhoidal vein, then taken up to the liver by the portal vein which draws fluid out and up into the liver every 4 minutes. If the liver is unable to dump the toxins in the bile, the toxins will accumulate and the body reuses this bile full of harmful waste.

The caffeine causes dilation of blood vessels and bile ducts, while the enzymes in coffee stimulate the liver to produce new bile. The old harmful bile is dumped into the large intestine where it is safely evacuated from the body.

When all the coffee has been absorbed into the bowel and the catheter removed, the coffee should be held for 12-15 minutes before evacuating. This allows your blood time to travel through your liver up to 5 times allowing your liver to continually dump the harmful waste.

Your liver and kidneys are no longer overwhelmed by harmful waste and the liver is then free to process more incoming harmful matter material that has accumulated in the organs, tissues and bloodstream.

Benefits of Coffee Enemas:

Toxin Elimination – The major benefit of the coffee enema, is to enhance elimination of waste matter through the liver.

Cleansing – Coffee also acts as an astringent in the large intestine, helping clean the colon walls.  A common contributor to ill health is the production and absorption of harmful waste within the small and large intestines.  If food is not digested properly, sugars ferment and protein putrefies or rots.  Both processes generate harmful chemicals which are then absorbed into the liver.

Stimulates Bile Flow – The coffee enema enhances digestion by increasing bile flow and removes toxins in the large intestine so they will not be absorbed.  Most people with health complaints suffer from impaired digestion and production of harmful substances in the intestines.

Stimulates Liver – Coffee enemas are particularly helpful for slow oxidizers.  Their liver activity is more sluggish and digestion is usually impaired.  Fast oxidizers may have more difficulty retaining the enema.

Further benefits of Enemas are:

  • May assist with increased elimination from the bowel
  • May help to relieve headaches
  • May help to increase alertness
  • May help to increase energy

Oil Swishing

Oil Swishing or Oil Pulling is an age old method of oral cleansing originating from Ayurvedic medicine.  It is one of the most powerful and effective methods of detoxification and healing in natural medicine.

The health of our mouth is an indication of the health of our bodies.  Infection and bacteria in the mouth may result in other health problems.  Oil Swishing is a simple process in which the oil is swished backwards and forwards in the mouth and this has a stimulating effect on the body’s eliminatory system.

Oil Swishing may assist the healing process for tooth and gum disease,  blood disorders, lung and liver disorders, heart and kidney disorders, migraines and headaches, skin ailments, gastric and intestinal problems,  nervous conditions, poor memory and hormonal disorders just to name a few.

The Oil Swishing process of pushing the oil forwards and backwards through the teeth mixes the oil with saliva and activates the released enzymes, and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood.  This is why it is extremely important that the oil is not swallowed and you spit it out when finished.  This ensures that the released toxins are not reabsorbed into the body.  Many people report that the oil takes on a milky white or yellowish color.  This is due to the fact that it becomes saturated with toxins and bacteria.

Steps to Oil Swishing/Oil Pulling

  1. Begin on an empty stomach first thing in the morning prior to eating.  A glass of water, at between room temperature and warm, may assist with producing saliva.
  2. Put 2-3 teaspoons of organic sunflower into your mouth.  Ensure the amount you use is comfortable you need to leave room for the production of saliva.
  3. Keep your lips closed, push and pull the oil back and forth through the teeth and gums ensuring every area in the mouth is covered.
  4. Do not gargle or swallow the oil.  Your mouth will be full of bacteria and toxins which you do not want to reabsorb back into the body.
  5. Relax and swish the oil in your mouth trying to produce as much saliva as possible.  15-20 minutes is recommended, but you may wish to build up to this time.  You may find that the solution turns a milky white or yellow.
  6. When finished, discard the oil in the bin.  It is not recommended to dispose of it down the drain.
  7. Rinse your mouth out and you may wish to rinse with baking soda or clean with a Soladey toothbrush, plus some organic toothpaste.
  8. This procedure can be carried out 1- 2 times a day.
